 Today’s vehicles are expected to perform reliably and to specification in the extreme range of conditions experienced across the world, from sub-zero conditions in the Artic circle to the humid heat of the tropical rain forests. It is essential during a vehicle development programme that it is tested in facilities that can simulate every kind of driving condition.
Froude Hofmann has a range of specialist dynamometers to provide accurate and repeatable road load simulation, speed and force or acceleration control. Variable speed cooling fans can also be provided to reproduce the required air-flow simulation. When Installed in an environmental chamber the vehicle can be tested under simulated conditions without the need for expensive and time consuming transport to countries with extreme climates. In this way the test conditions are always available and testing can be performed efficiently and repeatably.
Froude Hofmann chassis dynamometers for climatic testing are available as standard in single roller, 4x2, 4x4 and 4x4 independent configurations. The precision manufactured rollers are available from 0.5 m to 2.5 m diameter, running in rolling element bearings that may be temperature controlled according to the application.
